Also known as spastic colon, this is a common condition where you may feel abdominal
pain and suffer from either constipation or diarrhoea. Though you would be wise to seek
medical advice to rule out organic disease, most medical practitioners accept that
psychotherapy is the usual treatment.
Because the cause of IBS is unknown but is usually associated with stress or
anxiety, it can be treated at the Clinic in a similar way to reducing anxiety and
stress.
In itself, IBS is a very stressful condition, but it is still a symptom of something
deeper. Staff at the Clinic are able to use a variety of techniques to find the source
of the stress and neutralise it. By dealing with the underlying stress, you become
naturally free of the IBS.
The factors that bring on IBS need not be huge and traumatic; they just seem to be
at the time. It may even be that you have experienced two or three events and your mind
makes a connection triggering off the IBS. This makes the diagnosis sometimes a little
complicated but staff at the Clinic are used to such work.
The aim of the therapy is to completely eliminate the source of the condition,
returning you to normal daily life. As a natural by-product, you will be left with a
wonderful feeling of calmness, relaxation and confidence.
